Kurt Blumthal • 2022 Open Mic Winner

Kurt Blumthal, the winner of last year’s Decatur Arts Festival “Open Mic” contest, got a late start to his comedic journey. Appearing on stage for the first time in 2022, he quickly learned that his observational style of standup could work in any market. Starting standup comedy late in his life has given him the unique ability to find, and fine-tune, that “One Joke” that he will ultimately be able to tell, again and again. … when he starts working retirement villages in Florida! A fan of improvisational comedy, he has performed at the Whole World Improv Theatre here in Atlanta and regularly can be seen at The Punchline in Buckhead. Kurt was recently featured as part of a section entiltled “Atlantans at Play” in the March/April issue of Simply Buckhead magazine where Kurt’s easy-going style on stage and occasional “tuned up” intensity means he can cover any number of topics and find the funny in it all.
