“Watercolors inspired me since I was in college, working on my degree in graphic design. I like to use black and other dark colors in my painting. I grew up in a city, a complex mixture of dark and light moods. I like to explore the brightness of colors and like to use them in my paintings at their full strength. The contrasts and complex details of colors are the most attractive aspect of a painting for me. I think there’s beauty in day-to-day objects, city tells a colorful story. Rather than painting nature, which is a most suitable subject for the medium, I like to capture the daily life of the city.” – Swati Sardesai, Houston, TX
