The DeKalb History Center showcases a portion of its map collection in “Mapping DeKalb County.” The exhibit demonstrates the ways DeKalb County geography has been represented from its beginnings in 1821 all the way to 2008.
Maps are created and used for many purposes. The exhibit includes insurance maps for fires and floods, school maps from 1937 and 1975, topographic maps, tax maps, city maps, and more. There is also a map of a proposed commuter rail system to circle Atlanta – dated 1952.
